Chatmeter Cares: Building Homes With Baja Bound

In just a few short weeks, a group of Chatmeter employees will be heading back down to Mexico to build a home for a family in need. Building homes with the non-profit organization, Baja Bound, has become one of our favorite philanthropic projects to date. Here’s a look at why we love this project and how you can get involved.

About the Chatmeter & Baja Bound Project

Last year, Chatmeter went on two trips with Baja Bound to build homes for families in need. Each time, we took a team of about 12 – 15 people to assist Baja Bound organizers with the build. It takes roughly 2-days to build, paint, and furnish the home.

During those two days, the crew got a chance to get to know the family they’re building the home for and their neighbors. The team took this opportunity to donate clothing, bedding, and toys to the entire community. Some of the favorite donations among the kids were art supplies like crayons, pens, and markers.

The day after the crew finished building the home, they visited a migrant camp and dropped off more donations. They also served breakfast at the Village of Hope Community Center, in Ensenada to families in need. The team took this time to get to know some of the families in these communities and hear their stories. The whole experience was life-changing which is why we’re so excited to return to Mexico this November and build another home for a family in need.

How To Get Involved

This project wouldn’t be possible without the help of Chatmeter employees, friends, and family. The donations we’ve received in the past have helped to fund both the home building itself but also help supply communities with much needed everyday essentials like clothes, blankets, food, and more. This year we’d like to extend our fundraising efforts to Chatmeter customers, partners, and fans like you. Our goal is to raise enough money to build one house, if we exceed that goal, we’ll build another.
