Google Posts ARE BACK and Impacting Local Search Results

You may remember the controversy that erupted when Google decided to walk away from Google+ for businesses. Google+ Business Listings connected company profiles not just to the Google Maps and search results, but more importantly, to their customers. But that is about to change, again…

Many businesses had dedicated countless hours to building up their business pages on Google+. They shared information about upcoming events and specials, posted photos and created content for their followers and even earned reviews from their customers. When Google decided to go an entirely different direction with their local search platform, Google My Business, these companies and local businesses were at a loss. All of their hard work had been in vain.

Now, Google may be quietly admitting that they may have made a rash decision on posting. As Facebook continues to build out their local search capabilities, Google has been working fervently to enhance its local search features in attempts to ward off the looming threat that is Facebook Places and Facebook Ads.

Facebook’s ability to connect businesses directly with searchers is one of the reasons they continue to capture market share in the local search industry. Users and businesses alike love the ability to see relevant posts, share interesting content and engage with one another online.

Google is attempting to even the playing field by slowly bringing back what people loved about G+, the ability for companies to engage with their customers online and share relevant information about their business. With the full release of their latest feature, Post by Google, it seems that Google may be realizing that static business information is great, but businesses and consumers enjoy the opportunity to connect and engage with each other online.
