Microsoft and AOL’s 10-year contract is official. Bing now powers AOL’s web, mobile and tablet search. As of January 1st, AOL is displaying paid search ads and algorithmic organic search results from Bing. According to Microsoft, Bing is now the source of approximately a third of U.S. PC Internet searches.
The AOL deal comes after Bing’s agreement with Yahoo last year. In a renegotiated deal, Yahoo agreed that 51% of their algorithmic results (not including mobile) would carry Bing Ads.
Of course, Google currently dominates the search market, but with these small wins, Bing is very slowly creeping up. It’s important to be aware of where your business stands on all search platforms.
